Breastfeeding Welcome Here Project

gnobac_window-cling_2015_5x7The Greater New Orleans Breastfeeding Awareness Coalition has relaunched the Breastfeeding Welcome Here project in partnership with the Louisiana Breastfeeding Coalition and local breastfeeding coalitions across the state!

The purpose of this project is to create and highlight breastfeeding-friendly establishments for mothers and their families and to provide support (time and space) for the employees of those establishments. This project will help to provide comfortable, shame-free areas such as shopping venues, libraries, and restaurants, so nursing mothers will be able to have the freedom to be away from home longer and support businesses in their communities. We are happy to educate and offer guidance to businesses about the Louisiana Breastfeeding Laws.

The Greater New Orleans Breastfeeding Awareness Coalition (GNOBAC) invites businesses in the New Orleans area to sign a pledge to:

• Provide a comfortable, supportive environment for mothers to nurse in their establishment.
• Ensure that all staff members are aware of the project.
• Display the Breastfeeding Welcome Here signage in a highly visible place.
• Provide lactation accommodations (time and space other than a restroom) for their employees.

If you would like more information about the Breastfeeding Welcome Here project or are interested in supporting breastfeeding in your business, please email JMacias@gnobac.org.

Thank you for helping to make New Orleans a supportive community for moms and children!

Thank you to the businesses who have signed the pledge and proudly support breastfeeding!
